How long are the lessons?

Lessons are either 30 minutes (Bronze), 45 minutes (Silver) or 60 minutes (Gold) depending on the plan you choose to enroll in.  Lessons are on the same time and day every week.  

Can I watch my child’s lesson?

We encourage parents to be involved in the learning process. You are welcome to sit in and watch your child’s lesson. All of our rooms are monitored.

What is the right age to start music lessons?

The right age to start can vary from student to student.  We do not accept students under 4 years of age.  The best way to determine if your student is ready for the commitment is to sit in on the trial lesson.    

Which instrument should my child be introduced to music lessons with?

For the most part we suggest your child pick an instrument that they are naturally drawn to.  With younger students however size and dexterity should be taken into account.  For students 6 and under piano, violin and Ukulele are great starter instruments.   

How long does it take to learn?

Every student learns and progresses at their own pace.  Music is a lifelong hobby, students and players of every level can always learn new things.  The key to learning quickly is to regularly attend lessons and to practice as much as possible at home.

What if my child doesn’t like their instrument and wants to try something else? Can we swap?

No problem.  We would be more than happy to help find the right instrument for your student. 

Do you have recitals and how much do they cost?

We offer two recitals per year that are free of charge.  We also periodically offer group jam sessions.  

I don't have any musical background or ability; can I still help my child practice?

No musical experience is required to help your child practice.  Our instructors do everything they can to ensure that students have a clear practice program and work with parents to ensure quality practice time.

Why is there a registration fee?

The registration fee helps cover the cost of necessary teaching materials, such as classroom supplies and printed music.  The fee also covers administrative fees involved in enrolling a new student.   

What if I miss a lesson or go on vacation for a week? Do we have to pay for the whole month?

The short answer is yes.  However, if you know you will be away you can arrange to have your teacher send you lesson plans and homework assignments via email.  If you will be gone for an extended period of time you can cancel lessons and sign back up when you return.  The good news is our rates are so low that even if you have only 3 lessons in the months your per lesson cost is still lower than most of our competitors.    

What if I miss a lesson due to a hurricane or an unscheduled school closure?

In the event of a natural disaster causing the absence of a scheduled appointment, we will credit the missed lessons toward the following month’s tuition.  

Why should I pay if I don't attend my lesson?

All of our teachers are private contractors that have planned to meet with you at your scheduled lesson time.  Missing a lesson and expecting a refund would be the same as a teacher missing the lesson and expecting payment.  If you miss a lesson for any reason you are more than welcome to request a lesson plan and homework assignment.  If requested you teacher will send an assignment via email during the missed lesson time.     

Can I change my time once I start my lessons?

No problem.  We are more than happy to help you find a time that works for everyone.  Lessons are booked monthly and the new time would be booked for the following month.

Why do we have to use Auto-Billing? Can’t we simply pay for lessons after each lesson or in cash?

While we understand that everyone has different payment preferences, we have designed a system to minimize administrative time spent on billing.  We would much rather spend our time working on making your experience as beneficial as possible.

Why do we recommend enrolling in lessons versus booking flexibly?

The key to success in music is consistency and motivation. We believe a routine schedule is beneficial to the student because it dedicates time each week to achieve musical goals. The enrollment policy is designed so that all students receive 48 lessons in a full calendar year. Tuition is calculated by dividing the 48 lessons by 12 months so that all enrollees are charged for four lessons per month regardless of how many weeks are in that month* (Monday students in 2020 will be credited back one lesson in December as holiday closures allotted 47 weeks in their year).
